COMPASSION
(Exo 3:7) The LORD said, "I
have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying
out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
(Psa 78:38) Yet He was merciful;
He forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time He restrained
His anger and did not stir up His full wrath.
(2 Chr 30:9) If you return to the
Lord, then your brothers and your children will be shown compassion by their
captors and will come back to this land, for the LORD your God is gracious and
compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to Him.
(Neh 9:17) They refused to listen
and failed to remember the miracles You performed among them. They became stiff-necked
and in their rebellion appointed a leader in order to return to their slavery.
But You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding
in love. Therefore You did not desert them,
(Psa 86:5) You are forgiving and
good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to You.
(Psa 103:8) The LORD is compassionate
and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
(Psa 103:13) As a father has compassion
on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him;
(Psa 145:20) The LORD watches over
all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.
(2 Cor 1:3-7) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble
with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through
Christ our comfort overflows.
If we are distressed, it is for Your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted,
it is for Your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same
sufferings we suffer.
And our hope for You is firm, because we know that just as You share in our
sufferings, so also You share in our comfort.
(Hosea 11:9) I will not carry out
my fierce anger, nor will I turn and devastate Ephraim. For I am God, and not
man-- the Holy One among you. I will not come in wrath.
(Micah 7:18) Who is a God like
you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance?
You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
(Micah 7:19-20) You will again
have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities
into the depths of the sea.
You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham, as you pledged on oath
to our fathers in days long ago.
(Psa 147:3) He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
(Isa 66:13) As a mother comforts
her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."
