OBEDIENCE AND DISCIPLINE
OBEDIENCE
(2 Sam 22:26) "To the faithful
You show Yourself faithful , to the blameless You show Yourself blameless, to
the pure You show Yourself pure, but to the crooked You show Yourself shrewd.
(1 Chr 28:9) "And you, My
son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve Him with wholehearted
devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands
every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you;
but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
(Isa 1:18-20) "Come now, let
us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be
like wool.
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land;
but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword." For the
mouth of the LORD has spoken.
DISCIPLINE
(Job 5:17) "Behold, happy
is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the
Almighty.
(Heb 12:5-8) And you have forgotten
that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not
make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes everyone He accepts
as a son."
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is
not disciplined by his father?
If you are not disciplined (and everyone undergoes discipline), then you are
illegitimate children and not true sons.
(Prov 3:11-12) My son, do not despise
the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke,
because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights
in.
(Prov 1:7) The fear of the LORD
is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
